Open House Yoga is an open-minded and open-hearted space for lovers of Self exploration. At Open House we honour our asana practice as a moving meditation that creates a strong, clear, connected body and mind. Our approach is mindful, inquisitive and holistic. We encourage the experience of yoga to be a complete system, both on and off the mat.
Our light-filled warehouse studio, with it's 6 metre high ceilings was built utilising recycled materials and using sustainable methods. The roof was designed to maximise solar gain from a 11k Solar system, and rainwater is harvested and diverted into the native gardens. Inside our studio we wanted to continue our gentle footprint - whatever furniture and fixtures you see were recycled and repurposed.
Yoga is not simply on the mat for us, and we are dedicated to making conscious decisions that minimise harm to all sentient beings and the environment.
We are believers that all paths lead to the same destination. This is why you will find a Mysore program on the same schedule as a creatively sequenced Flow Class. We don't prescribe to only one method being the only way, but rather draw our inspiration from all the experiences from which our teachers have practiced and learnt. What unites these different classes? We base our teachings on the breath, movement and awareness. These principles are the foundation of all our classes.
They are experienced, kind, ‘outside of the box’ thinkers. We encourage our teachers to be themselves, find their own voice and structure classes in a way that reflects their personality. Our teachers are always mindfully present for their students, with the intention to create a space where you will always feel comfortable and supported.
